Myscript Stylus Keyboard

By default, the standard iOS keyboard will appear. To switch to MyScript Stylus, tap and hold the globe icon near the lower-left corner of the keyboard, then slide your finger over MyScript. Enter MyScript’s Stylus keyboard (free). This keyboard model allows you to write into the keyboard extension with your finger or your own stylus of any variety. Tip: writing with a stylus is better—and it's more accurate. The app is more likely to pick up thin pen.

MyScript Stylus is very good at recognizing handwriting, but it’s slower to use than a regular keyboard.

I really, really like the idea behind MyScript Stylus. It’s a different sort of iOS keyboard that lets you write your words out with a finger rather than having to mess around with virtual keyboards. The only problem is that, in practice, it’s much slower to use.

Setting up MyScript Stylus Download fiddler for mac os x. is quick and easy; all you have to do is install it and give it the appropriate permissions, then it’ll show up as one of your keyboard options whenever you need to write anything. Actually using it is also easy, and it does a really good job of recognizing even my awful handwriting.

The gestures you can use to correct and edit (separating words, removing accidental spaces, etc) are pretty simple and intuitive as well, although I did run into issues with getting the “use two fingers to swipe and scroll back” feature to work. Still, it’s almost scary how effortless it is to write something out and have it displayed correctly.

KeyboardKeyboard

As great as MyScript Stylus is though, it just doesn’t seem as functional as a regular keyboard. This isn’t a matter of it being more difficult to use or anything; it’s just faster to type than it is to write something out. Even with autocorrect pulling its usual shenanigans.

MyScript Stylus isn’t a practical replacement for the normal iOS keyboard, but it does what it does very well and is still worth a look.
